The lighting of a garden and a terrace

The technological evolution of LED lighting has led to the creation of a new range of outdoor lighting: mini spot, Lights, stud, and terminal, stake ... All these devices can be implemented to give an original and modern character to your outdoors. Here are our tips for lighting a garden.

Make a light mark:
The luminous markings correspond to the delimitation of a path, the body of water or terrace with the help of very discreet and weak light point (less than 1W LED). In order to be successful, several points are to be determined:
What is the maximum diameter of the desired light point?
The smallest Lights have outside diameters of less than 30mm, they make it possible to obtain a point of light as discreet as possible and have limited luminous power for a markup/decoration only. Example of a small recessed spot

Larger exterior Lights up to 80mm offer higher light output (up to 2.5W LEDs).

What spacing between the light points?
In general, to realize lighting markings it is necessary to space the Lights of a distance of 1m. If you opt for more powerful Lights (1 to 2W) then you can space 2m.

What shade of color?
LED offers a multitude of possibilities in terms of lighting color:
Warm white 2700K for a yellow-white like traditional bulbs, white to use if you want to create a cocooning atmosphere near a terrace for example

Light a small tree or shrub:
The lighting of a tree, shrub or specific plant requires lighting both powerful and targeted (scattering angle of less than 45 °). An angle of diffusion of the focused light returns most of the luminous flux towards the target to be illuminated, thus creating a light/shadow contrast maximizing the tree. The ideal products for this kind of lighting are projectors from 5 to 10W or luminous stakes.

Lighting a tall tree or façade:
The lighting of a large plant or a wall poses a challenge in terms of lighting: succeed in lighting a large area evenly while having to light the device as discreet as possible. To achieve this at best, we need powerful light sources (7 to 24W) distributed consistently around the target (for a 6m tree take 3 light points minimum).  The recessed LED terminal or stud represents an interesting solution in this context.
By combining all these techniques and products you have the opportunity to achieve outdoor lighting both functional and design.
